Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC) has announced the appointment of Glen Harrison as business development manager, effective 1 September 2021.
In his new role, Glen is tasked with identifying ways in which the organisation can expand and grow through researching, planning, and implementing new target market initiatives. Apart from business development, Glen will also be responsible for training, support, and development of the battery portfolio within GLTC.
In terms of training, some of his functions will include assessing the technical knowledge of sales staff and technicians and developing and facilitating appropriate training programmes. Under his guidance, staff training will be ongoing to expand the workforce’s knowledge base. Customer training, as well as new product training, will be other major focus areas of the company’s training regime.
As part of the support function, Glen will work closely with sales and technical staff to enhance product support. He will be meeting with customers to establish some of the issues that they might have and develop appropriate solutions, as well as help build strong, long-term relationships with customers.
Given the projected move towards electric equipment in the materials handling industry, Glen will drive the uptake of lithium ion (li-ion) batteries in GLTC products. He will be responsible for identifying and evaluating suppliers as well as conducting staff training on new li-ion products. Glen has been in the battery industry for 36 years and thus brings a wealth of experience in both the sales and technical aspects of the battery industry.
