Awarded the Spar Group’s coveted Logistics Supplier of the Year in 2016, Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC) recently raised the stakes at the Spar Inland Trade Show with a display of a range of innovative lifting solutions aimed at optimising the retail group’s operations across its countrywide distribution centres.

GLTC’s relationship with the Spar Group, one of the largest retailers across southern Africa, dates as far back as some 20 years ago. Materials handling equipment, such as forklifts, plays a major role in the Spar Group’s distribution centres (DC’s) across the country. GLTC is the sole distributor of leading forklift brands, comprising Crown, Doosan, Bendi, Hubtex and BHS Battery Handling Solutions in southern Africa, allowing the company to offer a full basket of materials handling equipment and warehousing solutions to the Spar Group.

To give decision makers a first-hand experience of some of the latest innovative lifting solutions in its stable, GLTC recently attended the Spar Inland Trade Show held at Emperors Palace on 18-19 April, to showcase a range of its materials handling solutions that speak directly to the needs of Spar’s DC’s. The bi-annual trade show, which aims to showcase Spar’s preferred suppliers, is a well-attended event that sees hundreds of trade representatives sampling new products and acquiring information on new services.

“GLTC presented selected products that were relevant to the retailers. The stand was further enhanced by a live caricature artist, cartoonist Gary Bottger who, during the course of the two days, created a huge hype around the stand with his live caricature drawings of our visitors,” says Michael Keats, Director at GLTC.

The Crown WT series headlined GLTC’s display. The WT Series platform pallet truck offers the widest model variation available, including four platform configurations, capacities of up to 2,5 t and an electronic steering. Built for demanding jobs, the WT Series features a cast-steel reinforced chassis, up to 12 mm thick covers, die-cast aluminium handle and the toughest side restraints available. “These units easily face intense pallet truck conditions and high throughput demands, with robust engineering, best-in-class durability, task efficiency and comfort. No wonder Spars around the country love them,” explains Keats.

GLTC also displayed the Crown ESR range. The reach truck moves products in and out of facilities quickly, easily, safely and economically. Operators gain confidence and performance with Crown’s intelligent Optimised Cornering Speed (OCS) system that automatically adjusts acceleration and deceleration curves for maximum safety and performance. “This range makes every move count with the optimum condition of fastest acceleration and response, best lift cycle times and lowest energy consumption,” says Keats.

Dubbed the ultimate utility player, the Crown SCT forklift delivers the power, manoeuvrability and dependability to satisfy the demands of both the application and the operator. Attention to detail, advanced engineering, a solid foundation and task-focused ergonomics – that’s the ideal balance you find on the SC Series. You can choose from 3- and 4-wheel models with capacities from 1,3 to 2,0 t.

The Doosan B35X completed GLTC’s display. “This is a forklift designed to handle the toughest applications without compromising ease of serviceability,” concludes Keats.
