Wilmar Continental – a joint venture between Asia’s leading agribusiness group, Wilmar International, and Continental Oil Mills of South Africa – has undertaken a major upgrade of its forklift fleet and has chosen to stay with Doosan trucks from Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC).
GLTC, an Imperial company, competed for the Wilmar Continental contract against three of the leading forklift brands in South Africa, and GLTC Gauteng sales manager Ronald Ryan says that Wilmar’s decision to go for Doosan for the second time is a major vote of confidence in both Goscor and Doosan.
“Doosan has a well-earned reputation around the world for building powerful and reliable machines. As the sole agents for Doosan in South Africa, we are confident that when it comes to value for money and generally lowering the total cost of ownership we have the best offering in the country,” Ryan said.
Eddie Swanepoel, logistics manager commercial Wilmar Continental, said that the
upgrade will enable Wilmar, inter alia, to run 24-hour warehouse shifts. “I am confident that the Doosans will match the pace. We’ve had excellent performance with our older fleet of Doosans. They are reliable, durable machines backed by excellent service from the Goscor team,” he said.
So far, Wilmar Continental has taken a 15 new Doosan forklifts – both diesel and gas -including the Doosan G18S-5 (lifting capacity of 1,8 tons), the Doosan G25E-5 (2,5 tons), and the Doosan D30S-5 (3 tons), all of which part of the Heart-of-the-Line Pro 5 Series.
Providing a well balanced mix of enhanced technology and proven components, the series introduces a number of operator comfort refinements, advanced servicing features and performance efficiencies:
- High-powered and fuel efficient diesel and LPG engines.
- Virtually maintenance-free oil cooled disc brakes.
- Power reversal transmission lift and tilt locking hydraulic control valve
- OSS (Operator Sensing System) Refined operator comfort seating area.
“The trucks all have operator compartments that are spacious and ergonomically designed for easier operation, improving operator comfort and hence boosting productivity,” Ryan added.
The newly formed partnership between Wilmar International and Continental Oil Mills, which has resulted in Wilmar Continental, promises to bring growth to the southern African market in edible oils and fats.
GLTC, part of the Goscor group, is the sole provider of leading global brands such as Crown, Doosan and Bendi in South Africa. The Goscor Group, now part of the Imperial Group, has been supplying the local market with state-of-the-art industrial equipment and world-class solutions for 29 years.
